Basel, 17 May 2025. JJ, a countertenor from the Vienna State Opera, won with an operatic ballad that had been given no chance in the betting: 436 points, 258 of them from the juries. Austria's first trophy since 2014.
St. Jakobshalle seats around 9,000 for the contest, and the final was gone within minutes. Basel's first Eurovision, seventy years after Lugano hosted the first one.

Voting. Semi-finals were decided by the public vote only. In the final, jury and public each awarded 1–8, 10 and 12. Viewers outside the participating countries counted as one set of points, Rest of the World. Source.
